Mike Merchant - Co-opted Governor
Both of my daughters attend Gatley Primary School and I am a resident of Gatley.
As a University lecturer, I do feel that I have transferable skills and a long-standing interest in education that I would be able to bring to the role.
Social Responsibility is one of the three core goals of the University of Manchester, and I am proud to belong to an institution which aspires to make a difference in the community.
The University operates a School Governor initiative https://www.staffnet.manchester.ac.uk/umsgi/, whereby it supports and encourages staff to become school governors across Manchester. I aim to harness the School Governor Initiative to gain experience, support, and training in the role of school governor from other University staff, which will enable me to best serve Gatley Primary School.
