Our Reading Culture

To see how we develop a love of reading, please see the table below which outlines how our children learn to read, read to learn and develop a love of reading:

 

Within the 'Read to Learn' arm of our approach to the teaching of reading, our English curriculum leaders have identified texts for each year group, selected to support the delivery of each of our 'Big Questions'. These texts form our 'curriculum bookshelves' and are used to support and enrich the delivery of lessons across the whole curriculum, inspiring awe and wonder in our pupils. To further develop our culture of reading, our children have been actively involved in creating their own special book. In loving memory of the late Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, each class in the school worked together to create a page of the book below. Together, the school has written this wonderful tribute we are now sharing with you to enjoy in your home:
