David Balmer - Parent Governor
I am fairly new to the Gatley area, having relocated to Manchester from Berkshire when I started a new job with the Bank of New York Mellon in December 2018.
Previously, I was a Parent Governor at Sandy Lane Primary School in Bracknell which is a 600+ pupil primary school with a 'Requires Improvement' Ofsted rating. Although my children didn't attend the school, it was the nearest school to my place of work and I wanted to give back to the community I was a part of. As such, I volunteered to become a governor. I attended a number of different training courses including Safeguarding and Preparing for an Ofsted inspection.
My career background in in Payroll, Audit, Human Resources and Project Management so I served on the Resources Committee, and then became Chair of the Committee.
Again, I would like to give back to the community who have been very welcoming to my family.
